Valerie Spina is a multidisciplinary artist based in Boulder, Colorado. She was born and raised in Vienna, Virginia. She found a love of the arts early and recieved formal training throughout childhood. Later, she attended Virginia Commonwealth University for a double major in Painting and Sculpture. Although, reluctantly, after two years of studying fine arts, she pursued a Bachelor's in Political Science with Minors in Nonprofit Management and Business Administration.
Hooked by the worries of the modern world and ancestral fears, she pursued a career spanning both private and public sectors, from strategic transformations with mortgage finance giants to social enterprises focused on green-energy retrofits for affordable housing, blockchain and crypto governance. She is professionally trained as a change practitioner, bringing in a creative and analytical mind for systems and cultural change.
In tandem with her art, she is focused on working with crypto startups as they bring new ideas to industry. Her spiritual practice is her art practice.
As an artist, she gravitates towards photography, found materials, and collage, while continuing to paint in both acrylic and watercolor. The immediacy of photography allows her to practice a painterly seeing within the constraints of financial and technology careers.
